How to Keep Cats and Bugs Off Patio Furniture
If you are like most people you have probably spent a lot of money and time picking out the perfect backyard patio set only to have it ruined by pesky bugs and cats.
There are some products that can help you keep them off your furniture safely!
Bugs Be Gone
You may love your patio furniture and spending time in your quite backyard enjoying the breeze and the quiet sounds of nothing but you hate those annoying bugs that always find their way to you and your furniture.
You can invest in a screen for your backyard that zips to keep the bugs away. You can purchase them at almost any store that sells patio furniture or backyard goodies. Believe it or not they can actually be decorative and they come in many shapes, sizes, and netting colors. Most often they are also fairly simple to install and quick. They offer ties or zips that allow you to enjoy your furniture, the sun and still feel the cool breeze without the bugs. You can get them to cover your whole yard or porch or perhaps just a small section.
If a screen is not in your budget you could invest in some bug repellent and spray your furniture with it. You should keep in mind that it may be harmful to cats and other pets but it will work to keep the bugs away.
Keeping the Cats Away
If you are having trouble keeping cats off your patio furniture or cushions there may be a way to repel them. If you go to your local pet store and explain the problem they will probably be able to offer you some sort of solution. They, of course, will recommend something humane and safe so as to avoid hurting the cat but still allowing your furniture to stay free from hair and nasty odors.
There are sprays available on the market that will deter cats from your furniture. It gives off an odor that makes it “undesirable” to them, thus keeping them away.
If repellent is not something you are looking for then perhaps you could try foil. Tin foil deters cats from climbing on your furniture. However, with heavy winds and rain it is foil will often blow away. You could perhaps weight it down with something heavier; unwieldy, but it will keep the strays away!
Perhaps an easier method would be to get a big dog! It is well known that dogs and cats do not mix. A large furry pup might scare the cat away and probably keep them from coming back indefinitely!
Another easy tip is to take the patio furniture inside at night. While this may be inconvenient it is an easy solution to a cat problem. You can also invest in furniture covers to keep them off at night.
These options give a variety of fairly cheap and easy solutions to your problems. You could also ask around for some more tips as I am sure you are not the only one facing these challenges.
