How to Make a Homemade Patio Set
It is possible to make your own homemade styles with your patio furniture. Let’s face it its costly and bad for the environment to constantly replace patio sets. Your trash is not always someone else’s treasure. You may want to go out and get an entirely new set but you just cannot find someone to take your old patio furniture off your hands. If you put it to the curb then it ends up in a landfill somewhere.
Here are some great options for reusing what you have to make a great new look!
Reuse, Recycle and Save
While this may take a creative flair it can save you money and help the environment as well.
Instead of kicking your unused patio furniture to the curb try using it to spice up your back yard.
- Take from one place and put it in another. This is a great option if you have a large backyard or perhaps even a front and back porch filled with furniture. Sometimes we get sick of looking at the same furniture day in and day out. Frequently just moving it can give it a whole new life, a better look, and is always cheaper for your wallet.
- Add a dining space to your backyard. Perhaps you have an old bistro set sitting in your basement or garage. That would be a great piece to put in your backyard as a small and intimate place to drink your morning coffee or read a book in the evening.
- Save the landfills. Your old plastic chairs are not going to dissolve somewhere in a landfill so try adding some new paint and giving it a whole new life in order to minimize ecological impact.
- Paint, paint, paint. Paint that wicker chair that is sitting in your living room corner. By adding some new cushions and purchasing a cover for it, it can make a nice addition to your backyard set. Not only does it add more seating for your family gatherings but it also brings new life to a boring dust collector.
- Dress it up. Perhaps you have a wrought iron coffee table that you are no longer in love with. It can add a great touch to any backyard décor. It can even be used as a nice place to put your potted plants.
It can be very costly to go and buy new furniture for your backyard. But if you just look around your home or in your basement or garage you will probably find some unused or unwanted furniture that would work great in any backyard.
Remember that just because something has lost its luster and shine in one area of your home does not mean that it can be loved in another part. Paint, accessories and a little bit of TLC can bring new life to any item. It saves money in the long run and helps the environment also. With little or no cost you can take a piece of trash and turn it into a treasure that anyone would be happy to own.
